Description

The Grant Writer is responsible for researching, developing, and submitting compelling grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government agencies. This individual will work closely with program staff and leadership to understand funding needs, gather data, and craft persuasive narratives that align with funder priorities. The Grant Writer will be a key contributor to the organization's fundraising efforts and will play a critical role in ensuring the sustainability of our programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Grant Research and Identification:

  • Identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies that align with the organization's mission and programs.  
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, deadlines, and requirements.  
  • Stay informed about funding trends and best practices in grant writing.

Grant Proposal Development:

  • Write clear, concise, and compelling grant proposals that articulate the organization's needs, program impact, and alignment with funder priorities.
  • Develop budgets and financial narratives to support grant proposals.
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information and data for proposals.
  • Ensure all proposals are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Prioritize grants in order of importance.

Grant Reporting and Management:

  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate grant reports to funders.
  • Maintain accurate records of grant applications, awards, and reporting requirements.
  • Track grant deadlines and ensure compliance with funder guidelines.
  • Contribute to the Stewardship of funder relationships.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with program staff, leadership, and finance to develop grant proposals and reports.
  • Communicate effectively with funders to address questions and provide updates.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to fundraising strategy discussions.
  • Work with other departments to gather needed information.

 

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in grant writing, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Proven track record of securing grant funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software.
  • Knowledge of non-profit fundraising principles and practices.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Passion for the mission of RISE.
  • Self-directed, works with minimal supervision.

 

EQUIPMENT NORMALLY USED:

  • Computer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine, and other office equipment as necessary.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to assume a seated position at computer or desk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform functions of required computer software.
  • Ability to visually create and organize files.  Filing may require reaching, kneeling, and bending.
  • Travel to attend meetings and/or trainings and to perform required administrative audits.
  • Ability to quickly respond to health, safety, and emergency situations.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions that may include dealing situations while handling multiple work assignments.
  • Ability to have appropriate interactions and maintain professionalism with RISE Services, Inc. employees, customers, and people in the community.
